awesome chair

i saw this chair in a quilting shop here. i LOVE it. the chair (originally)was bought at a consignment store...and the fabric is anna maria horner (so awesome=check out her website and blog) the lady that owns the store re-upholstered it. future project !!!
this is fabric that i found that i want to do matching duvets with (for the girls)it's heather bailey--also so cute. the only thing is that it's not super thick. it's 100% cotton, but the weave or threadcount or whatever that is, is not really thick. do you think it would hold up on a duvet???

Long time no post! :)

The pic above has been a favorite for a few years now. {originating from country home mag} I made my sister some jewelry frames for her birthday 2 years {has it really been that long} ago. While I was home I took some pictures of the ones I made for Anna that hang in her bathroom.

I guess you KNOW something is going to be good if you STILL want it two years later. I have wanted to do this project for myself...gonna try and find the time. But I just really hate the thought of not having ANYWHERE to put them....so I continue to wait.

DIY Cake Stands

Soooo, yesterday my mamma was wanting some decor ideas/inspiration, for the open house that will happen at the end of August. (For my bro and my new-to-be sister in-law). I was looking through some websites (good 'ole martha) and one called sylemeprettydotcom, when I came across the coolest thing! Get ready for a fast, easy, fun and cheap project! yeah!
These cake stands are made with vintage plates and candle holders, and glued together with epoxy!
There was also a link to another DIY version(CLICK HERE)...with the plates and vases/candle holders looking a bit more like what you might find at your local goodwill. I like both! I can't wait to scout my local goodwill and try this out! looks fun!

Wallpaper

Isn't this picture lovely? The colors, box pleats on couch, the pom-pom pillows, the table and lamp...I clipped this out of a Country Home mag a few years ago. Do you remember? I actually pulled the picture thinking of you! Remember when we were discussing ideas for the BIG tall wall in your stairwell? I still think this idea is pretty cool...and would make "wallpapering" a room a lot more probable for me! (not to mention cheaper too).

What to do with the alcove!

SO MANY of the houses we have been in have these little nook in the wall kinda things. I don't think I'm a big fan...but what can you do? Almost EVERY alcove had been filled up with a honkin' armoire or a big 'ole TV was shoved into every last inch of space. It was all kind of depressing. But when I saw this pic, I thought....what a great solution! So if I end up with a house that has this feature....I'll know what to do! (although seriously, what do you put inside a dresser in the living room?)

One more thing...

ok, so I posted pics of my version of turquoise planters on my blog...but I wanted to say one more thing about this pic. I love the couch...and it is totally a DIY job. The lady who did this bought an old couch and ripped the back and nasty old upholstery off. Then she added 2x4's to the frame for a new platform. She made the cushions and pillows herself. Cool huh!? I think it looks really neat...maybe someday we will have to attempt this! (after the piano that is...haha!)

REALLY REALLY COOL PHOTO WALL
